Product overview
Zinc Bromide is a highly water-soluble, hygroscopic inorganic bromide supplied by Kranti Chemicals as crystalline powder, with a high-density clear brine solution also available. Along with calcium bromide, it is used to formulate the highest-density clear completion fluids in oilfield service, for wells where even calcium bromide brine alone isn't dense enough.
Zinc bromide solutions are also the electrolyte of choice in zinc-bromine flow batteries, and dense aqueous solutions are used as self-healing radiation-shielding windows.
Applications
Handling & safety
Zinc Bromide is corrosive to eyes and skin in concentrated form and highly hygroscopic. Handle using appropriate PPE and store in sealed, moisture-barrier packaging; a full Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is available on request.
